This plant is a branching vine that will grow a huge underground caudex. The trick to growing a huge caudex on this plant is to keep the entire root structure buried in a large (10-12" min) plastic pot until the sides of the pot swell, indicating the roots are big and fat, ready to be exposed. If you raise the caudex too soon, the exposed portion will not get bigger, but the underground roots will continue to swell.  Allowing the vines to grow unrestricted will help the buried caudex grow faster. Use a trellis or support for the vines. After lifting the caudex, you can trim the vines and shape it bonsai- style for a unique and very dramatic presentation. Very easy to grow and popular among collectors of caudiciform plants. A great buy!
