This species is endemic to South Africa, and known for its multitude of pink pin-wheel shaped flowers and fat caudex with thorny branches.  Easy to grow, given bright light and moderate amounts of low-nitrogen fertilizer.  Caudex will grow fatter faster if left partially buried. Cold tolerant to 30F. Keep dry in winter.
